Ladies, remember to stay hydrated. This cold weather can be very harsh on your skin, especially your hands, feet, and lips. Not to mention with the dryness in the air you'll want to stay hydrated. So make sure you get plenty of water (8 glasses is suggested) for your body--inside and out!

Get out and walk or stay in and walk...just walk! A good 30 minutes of walking is great for your heart. Try walking around your building or taking the stairs up to your office (or at least part of the way) after lunch. Love your heart as much as it loves you! "Health Nut for the Day"
Oatmeal is a great source of fiber that has cancer-fighting properties. It can also help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. People who eat oatmeal on a regular are less likely to develop heart disease. It's also good for those with diabetes because the fiber slows down starch digestion so blood sugar won't spike right after a meal.
If you're not a big oatmeal person try it out with some fruit like blueberries or bananas or your favorite fruit.

"Health Nut for the Day"
Add some spinach to your life. It's a great source of iron. It doesn't always have to be cooked. One suggestion: substitute it in your salads--it's better than iceburg lettuce! You can just buy the little bags of spinach from Jewel or Aldi. Mix it in with foods you already eat. Make it fun!

Here at the "The Health Spot" we're giving all you fabulous people the free and positive space to tell your stories and post pics of your progress through the Healthy Weight Challenge.
The Healthy Weight Challenge starts January 15, 2010 and goes until March 15, 2010.
This will be a contest with 5 different categories, but of course everyone's a winner.
